Overall Objectives of Position The Assistant Archery Coach/Lifeguard is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the Archery and Swim program. This job description is not an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of this position. The Assistant Archery Coach/Lifeguard is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goal and objectives of applicable programs. The Assistant Archery Coach/Lifeguard is expected to live the Purpose and Values of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and will go beyond the call of duty.

Primary Responsibilities of the Assistant Archery Coach/Lifeguard

  • Manages and maintains inventory of archery and/or swim program equipment.
  • Assists in organizing archery tournaments and/or swim events.
  • Assists in recruiting new archery members.
  • Assists with testing swimmers.
  • Regulates and organizes archery and/or swim attendance.
  • Assists with program development and coordination.
  • Assists with the appropriate coordinator in any other related area.
  • Assists in instructing proper safety skills and sportsmanship.
  • Enforces rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate person.

Day-to-day Responsibilities

  • Maintains constant surveillance of archery range and/or pool area to ensure safety and to prevent accidents.
  • Works with all archery and swimming participants
  • Ensures that all equipment is accounted for and properly maintained and keeps a list of needed equipment and supplies.
  • Assists and/or instructs programs and/or lessons.
  • Monitors archery range and/or pool area as needed.
  • Keeps daily log of attendance.
  • Prepares and cleans appropriate area before and after event and/or practice.
  • Enforces rules and takes appropriate disciplinary actions.

Education/License/Certification and Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have a S3DA Coaching Certification or obtain within the first ninety (90) days of employment.
  • Must possess or obtain current American Red Cross certifications in Lifeguarding, Standard First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent certifications from another certifying agency within the first ninety (90) days of employment.
  • Must have verifiable experience teaching archery and/or lifeguarding preferred.
  • Must possess “Mandatory Reporter Certification” or obtain within the first week of employment.
  • Must possess “ServSafe Certification” or obtain within the first week of employment.

Skills Required

  • Absolute confidentiality.
  • Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with youth, parents, and community leaders.
  • Must have working knowledge of computers with the ability to work in a Windows environment with various software programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
  • Must possess a character that earns the confidence of the participants, parents, and community, and minimizes public criticism or complaints.
  • Ability to work in a high-performance, fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Adept at multi-tasking, have unquestionable integrity, with an uncompromising commitment to quality.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Must be people oriented and relate well to people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, and twist for any extended period of time as well as climb, lift, hold, and move objects weighing a maximum of fifty (50) pounds.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and an insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
  • Must possess a Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) with passenger and air brakes endorsements or obtain within one hundred eighty (180) days of employment.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
  • Ability to adequately and successfully perform all duties and responsibilities of this position.

COMPLAINTS ABOUT RECRUITMENT PROCESS:

Complaints about the recruitment or selection process for employment should be directed in writing to the Human Resources Director of PCI Tribal Government.

An applicant who disagrees with any issue related to the application or hiring process may submit a letter to Human Resources within ten (10) calendar days from the date the applicant knew or should have known that an adverse hiring decision had been made.

Human Resources will provide a written response within fourteen (14) calendar days informing the applicant of any administrative remedy to be provided. The decision of the Human Resources Director shall be final and not subject to further administrative appeal. Any applicant who has exhausted all administrative remedies may be eligible to file a complaint with the TERO Office.
