Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other Maricopa County employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

As the Assessor Clerk I, you will provide a wide range of customer support to property owners, property tax agents, and others seeking information. We will count on you to assist with Assessor applications and processes, conflict resolution on matters related to property ownership, and assessment. You will gain knowledge of multiple Assessor processes and programs across several divisions and how the programs relate to the Recorder's and Treasurer's Offices.

We Require
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of clerical experience in an office environment
  • Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
We Also Value
  • Experience handling intake of data, including receiving and processing documents
  • Experience working with real estate, legal descriptions, title research, and permit processing
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and 6i OnBase
Job Contributions
  • Ensures prompt, customer-focused, and accurate customer services to property owners, property owner representatives, and other citizens at the Assessor's front counter by answering questions related to property ownership, property maps, and records assessment
  • Explains Assessor processes, helps with applications for valuation relief programs, resolves issues, etc.
  • Addresses the above in-person, over the phone, and also via email and response to mail
  • Supports accurate Assessor records by data entry of rental registrations, mailing address changes, situs addresses, Legal Class Verification, application information, processing tax clearances for mobile homes by accessing MVD and Treasurer's sites to ascertain meeting requirements
  • Supports other areas by assisting with notice of claims, ownership, and mobile homes processes
  • Performs other special projects as needed, such as data entry, quality control, mail distribution, or handling time-sensitive material and confidential information
