The mission of this role: Key Enabler for Digital Business. Accountable for aligning IT systems, processes, and capabilities to meet business goals and strategic objectives, in turn simplifying the environment and reducing costs.
Scope of the role: Managing, evaluating, and developing the architecture design, governance, and standards for a portfolio of systems (including applications, technologies, databases, and integrations).
- Guide the process to simplify, standardize and strategize IT investments.
- Architect and execute the process of planning and designing the IT and data capabilities to improve productivity, simplify the environment, and reduce costs.
- Facilitate future state application architecture.
- Create a direct link between targeted business outcomes and the IT capabilities that will support them.
- Provide tools, reusable technology, information to BRM teams.
Accountabilities and Success Measures
- Align business capabilities to IT imperatives
- Minimum viable architecture
- Reduce cycle time to deliver architecture artifacts and adherence of project to standards
- Financial metrics: Capital expense reduction through the prevention of non-standard, one-off solutions.
- Operational expense reduction in by application complexity standardization
- Reduce technical debt and prevent system failure because of design complexity
- Equip App Team with Architecture resources to guide decisions
- Cross-cutting investment priorities identified
- Reduce costs by capability and library re-use
- Equip Apps Team with Architecture resources to guide faster decisions making
Key experience required
- 10+ years of experience in at least two IT solution development disciplines, including technical architecture, application development, middleware, database management, or cloud development.
- Experience guiding application architecture blueprints, strategies, and roadmaps.
- Experience with architecting high throughput, low latency - non-blocking/asynchronous applications.
- Experience with information management practices, IT services management, agile and lean methodologies, and architectural frameworks.
Technical and Functional Competencies
- Preferred experience designing, configuring, and developing application architecture using the following technologies:
- Dell Boomi or equivalent integration platforms
- Publish/Subscribe Messaging - Kafka or equivalent
- Non-Blocking Frameworks - React or Equivalent
- Message Brokers - RabbitMQ or equivalent
- Microservices Development
- Scaling and Management of containerized applications - Kubernetes or PCF
- API Gateways - Apigee
- SOLID Design Principles
- Unified Modeling Language
- Strong expertise in various database technologies like SQL Server and Oracle.
- Knowledge of Azure platform services (PaaS) and data stores, including Cosmos, Azure SQL, Azure App Service, Azure Functions, etc.
- Knowledge of various aspects of a technology architecture like integration, network, and security.
- Balances the long-term (“big picture”) and short-term implications of individual decisions and organizational goals.
- Estimates the technical impact of application architectural alternatives and applies multiple solutions to business problems.
- Rapidly comprehends the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
- Ready to think, behave and act in an innovative consulting manner to drive the organization’s digital business strategies.
