JOB LOCATION: Brookview Elementary, Eason Elementary, Waukee Elementary
SHIFTS AVIALABLE: 3:15P-6:00P, 1:30P-6:00P for early dismissals
PAY RANGE: $13.50-$15.25/hour
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: December 31, 2022 - Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the direction of the Site Leader, the Child Care Provider is responsible for assisting in the delivery of the program. This includes program activities, behavior management, safety of program participants, and evaluation. The Child Care Provider will deliver professional customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment. The individual will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ensure the safety and engagement of a group of children.
• Assist in planning purposeful and engaging activities complimenting the program according to the nine program components and site implementation plan.
• Provides assistance with homework and encourages academic progress.
• Follows program lesson plans and implementation plan in a developmentally appropriate manner, meeting the individual physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the participants.
• Provides careful, attentive supervision and is alert at all times.
• Serves as a positive role model, demonstrates professional behavior, and understands positive youth development approaches to the development of youth.
• Facilitates a program environment that invites exploration, promotes positive play, and welcomes children.
• Promotes a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others. Maintains on-going communication with Program Coordinator.
• Communicates regularly with parents; attends parent/family events as designated by Program Coordinator.
• Demonstrates and supports the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical functions
• Must be at least 16 years of age (If under age 18, must be working with an adult age 18+)
• Approval by State of Iowa Licensing requirements including pre-employment physical
• Current Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Certifications or equivalent - prior to starting
• Intro to Y’s Cause & Culture Online Course - prior to starting
• Additional training to be completed within the first 30 days and maintained afterwards.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively with people and monitor property and activity
• Ability to remain alert at all times
• Ability to adapt to changing working conditions
• Ability to perform strenuous physical activity
