POSITION SUMMARY:

Employee will work 28 hours per week at the Wausau Meals on Wheels Kitchen, WI. Employee will oversee all operations related to Meals on Wheels packaging and distribution, including providing oversight of packaging Meals on Wheels, recruitment, training, and scheduling of volunteers. This position may occasionally fill in at senior dining sites or for meal delivery as needed. Employee will work closely with agency partners, co-workers, volunteers, and the public requiring effective communication skills.

Hours of work: Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduation or equivalent preferred. Experience in food service is desirable. Serving Safe Food Training will be provided. Must have a driver's license and a driving record that meets County standards.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Maintains daily operations, cleanliness, and standards for food safety for Senior Nutrition Program services.
  • Oversee all operations related to Meals on Wheels packaging and distribution.
  • Assures bulk food and meal temperatures are maintained according to safe food handling standards.
  • Follows food safety and sanitation procedures including appropriate handwashing and calibrating thermometers. Maintains temperature logs for food and holding equipment. Coordinates temperature testing procedures to assure food safety.
  • Reads menus to determine appropriate serving sizes and appropriate foods for specialized diets; monitors quality and quantity of food.
  • Assists with recruitment, training, and scheduling of volunteers.
  • Prepares participant service documents and other data as part of the reporting requirements of the Senior Nutrition Program.
  • Assists with Meals on Wheels customer eligibility reassessments.
  • Works closely with the nutrition team and Nutrition Program Director and other partners as appropriate to recommend new or improved models for service improvements.
  • Communicates with support services team regarding meal and supply orders, and provides backup as needed.
  • Alerts supervisor to changes in service, problems, unusual circumstances, and/or areas needing improvement. Formulates and makes recommendations to address issues/concerns. Refers specific concerns about consumers to supervisor or other ADRC-CW staff as needed.
  • Attends meetings and training sessions as scheduled by Nutrition Program Director or ADRC-CW Leadership.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Works extra hours as required.
  • Performs related work as required.

COMPENSATION:

Starting hourly salary: $16.42/hour
