Compensation:

Position Summary & Responsibilities:

This position will remain posted until filled. Location: KDA Headquarters. Riley County, Kansas

This position performs a full range of clerical duties for the new applications and changes unit. This position’s work involves checking documents for conformity with regulations and office procedures, helping to ensure that proper workflows are taking place, and developing databases and spreadsheets that track the work of the unit. This position serves as a notary public for legal documents. This position periodically prepares letters for mass mailings via both Certified and First-Class USPS mail as required by statute. This position also helps ensure that requests for records pertaining to the Water Appropriation Program are fulfilled as required by the Kansas Open Records Act.

This position is cooperatively responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of files for the Water Appropriation Program, consisting of more than 32,000 active files. This position’s work primarily involves scanning, storing, and organizing documents in Docuware, the State’s digital file storing system, but also includes maintenance of microfilm jackets, paper files, and digitally scanned images. This position is responsible for ensuring that scanned images and document storage systems are current, accessible, and accurate for the best efficiency of all users.

This position assists in covering the main DWR incoming phone line and the processing of incoming and outgoing mail. This position’s work involves tracking incoming and outgoing mail in spreadsheets when necessary. This position’s work also involves the collection of fees associated with the Water Appropriation Program and the tracking of these fees in spreadsheets.

This position performs other duties as assigned to enable the Division to process its workload in a timely and efficient manner.

** This position has the opportunity to telework per guidelines of the Telework Policy of the Kansas Department of Agriculture KDA after one year of service.

Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience in general office, clerical and administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
  • Infrequent instate travel for short periods, including overnight, may also be required.
  • Ability to extract, analyze, and complex technical information from a variety of sources is preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills are strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to multitask.
  • Valid driver’s license.
