Dignity Health Medical Group is the employed physician group of Dignity Health Arizona. Dignity Health Medical Group (DHMG) employs approximately 200 providers and 500 support staff that cover a wide variety of specialties. The medical group has had tremendous success over the past few years and now provides more than 73 subspecialty services. The physicians provide clinical services in their areas of specialty and many serve in pivotal academic, research and leadership roles.


DHMG is also heavily involved in preparing tomorrow's healthcare providers. DHMG has 84 medical school students and approximately 200 residents and fellows throughout the 25 academic programs. Clinical services are complemented with translational and bench research to augment medical education for residents and students.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

Reporting to the COO Physician Administration and working directly with the anesthesia physician lead as a dyad partner, the Administrative Director, Anesthesia Service Line is responsible for developing anesthesia as a new service line for Dignity Health Medical Group and effectively implementing the overall strategic plan of the service line.

As the senior leader to Anesthesia, this position provides leadership to managers, employees, and providers to the new and developing service line. Responsible for achieving excellence in operations to include, but is not limited to, patient care, employee and provider satisfaction and engagement, the development and implementation of business strategy and development, program delivery, growth goals, organizational development, and financial management.

Responsibilities:

Immediate / Near Term
  • Implementation and fulfillment of coverage requirements
Short Term
  • Implement new practice tools and systems to enhance performance. Tools and licenses to be owned by CSH: Qgenda - Provider Scheduling Tool. Charge Capture and Quality Data Tool platforms, such as Medaxion and Perimatics.
  • Develop Metrics and dashboards to monitor performance, fulfill coverage obligations and identifies and monitors KPIs.
  • Build a new culture that is focused on a coverage based model. Establish a relationship of trust between providers and CSH across the division.
  • Coordinates with Physician Enterprise to develop plans for key functions in an employment model: Comp design, Employment agreements, Credentialing and RCM.
Long Term
  • Oversees the conversion to employment no later than 12 months out.
  • Ensure smooth transition for those converting to employed.
  • Identifies gaps based on conversation rates.
  • Develops migration plan for gaps.
  • Develops long term goals, initiatives, dashboards and monitoring.
  • Develops a playbook to be used in other markets.
  • Develops a plan to further expand the service line across the division.
Essential Functions
  • Oversees the effective management, integration and standardization of assigned service line operations and programs, processes, equipment and resources wherever possible throughout the assigned are of responsibility.
  • Directs the service line management and staff, effectively managing ongoing operations in line with driving excellence in operations and patient care.
  • Ensures the integration of service line activities are aligned with Dignity Health Medical Group initiatives to drive standardization, streamlining and a high degree of operational efficiency.
  • Ensures compliance with regulations and governing rules of Dignity Health Medical Group and contracted payers to include Federal and State payers.
  • Responsible for the financial management of the service line and operation budgets. Ensures patient care is achieved cost effectively. Monitors fiscal operations on an ongoing basis. Works with the appropriate individuals to resolve problems and issues and reconcile discrepancies in monthly financial reports.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or healthcare administration or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Minimum Experience:
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead productive complex teams, which could include leaders of teams and teams located in various geographic locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage provider relations.
  • Demonstrated expertise of medical group operations and effective leadership within an Integrated Delivery System.
  • Experience managing multiple, complex projects.
  • Experience managing large multispecialty group practices across multiple geographic locations.
  • Ability to drive effective business and management strategies, including capital and expense budgeting, cost accounting, professional and patient
    billing.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in anesthesia.
  • Master's degree in business, finance or healthcare administration or related field.
