Job Description:

Are you considering the actuarial profession but not sure if you want to commit to the exam process? Have you been told that you’re good at math but didn’t know how to turn that into a career? Do you like to work with computers and data and problem solve? Then this Actuarial Data Filing Analyst role might be right for you.

As a member of the C&F Commercial Lines & Executive Risk Business Services Group, you will work Product Management and State Filings to provide actuarial support for rate, rule and form filings. This position will be heavily involved with filings related activities for all major commercial lines, involving compilation of data, reports, and competitor analysis. Interaction with the Actuarial Department will arise as well as other non-routine assignments. Business acumen and skill development are emphasized.

What you will do:

  • Preparing rate filings including rate reviews for all major commercial lines
  • Preparing exhibits for form and rule filings as needed
  • Understanding data sources used to pull necessary information for filings support
  • Creating and maintaining a countrywide filings database
  • Monitoring bureau filing activity
  • Performing ad hoc projects as requested

What you will bring to C&F:

  • College degree (Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Experience in the insurance or financial fields working with data is desirable
  • Interest in pursuing an actuarial designation a plus but not required
  • Proficiency in Excel; SQL and Access experience is a must
  • Proficiency in R is preferred
  • Detail-oriented and able to multi-task and work independently
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently, independently as well as in a group
