Your Role

The Actuarial Provider Strategies (APS) team supports the program design, budget setting, and operations of Blue Shield of California’s value-based care (VBC) payment models, which includes Accountable Care Organization (ACO) and other innovative, alternative payment models. The Actuarial Analyst will report to the Senior Manager of Actuarial Provider Strategies ACO team. In this role you will be collaborating with various stakeholders to design and execute risk share payment strategies as well as configuration of various networks to enable and support Blue Shield’s long-term strategic goals.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

• Actively learn the core principles of decision analytics with knowledge of the analytic tools and techniques that are used to acquire and analyze data for reporting and decision making
• Work as part of the team conducting financial analysis, evaluating the business and actuarial risks, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, improving existing reporting and tools, producing timely analytic reports, and supporting ACO operations
• Compile and categorize data, documenting and verifying the assumptions and factors used in computations such as those used in risk share financial target development, financial reconciliation, performance analysis, and savings estimates
• Participate in the development and implementation of BSC’s network and provider partnership strategies and assist the BSC leadership on mission critical decisions
• Perform data exploration and conduct analysis using a combination of different program languages (including, but not limited SAS, SQL, Phyton, R) and data visualization tools (including, but not limited to Excel, Tableau)

QUALIFICATIONS
Your Knowledge and Experience

• Requires a bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science or related discipline or equivalent business experience
• Typically, has completed 1 to 2 courses towards the eventual attainment of the Associate, Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation
• No previous professional actuarial experience required but typically has obtained broad theoretical job knowledge thr ough advanced education
  

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 31.73/hour to $ 44.42/hour for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
