Primary Purpose:

Perform general accounting tasks relating related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions.


Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Additional training beyond high school in accounts payable or general accounting preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of financial accounting and auditing principles established by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting systems
  • Ability to use personal computer and software to develop complex accounting reports, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to research and analyze data and reports.
  • Attention to detail
  • Quick learner
  • High level of integrity


Experience:

  • Two (2) years of accounting experience in accounts payable or general accounting preferred


Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Process 3-way PO matching invoices
  • Process check requests
  • Process travel requests
  • Reconcile vendor statements
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
  • Research stale checks
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits
  • Debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases using specialized accounting software
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required, including auditable records and financial statements
  • Record, store, and analyze information using accounting software
  • Assist with review of travel expense reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
