The Accounting Director works closely with Partners, Supervisors, Seniors, Team, and Clients to facilitate completion of all components of accounting engagements including oversight of the accounting department and team members. The Accounting Director is responsible for overseeing all accounting work, reviewing workpapers, completing compilations, interfacing with client executives, participating in accounting financial statement presentations to client, and providing the final accounting documents to clients for distribution.


The Accounting Director establishes operational accounting strategies by evaluating trends, determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies, designing systems, accumulating resources, resolving problems, and implementing change within the accounting department. This position reports to the firm's Accounting Partner.

*THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION**

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages the accounting team who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation
  • Mentor, supervise, and train accounting team. Coordinates training programs for new team and identifies training needs for current team.
  • Address client and team questions and concerns in a timely matter
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Leverage technology to create more efficient processes and enhance team productivity.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare budgets to price engagement letters and proposals
  • Monitor accounting work through time keeping software to ensure timely deliveries for all accounting department engagements. Utilize Practice CS daily to monitor project status is current.
  • Manages Accounting Client Billing
  • Enforcement of Billing Policy
  • Manages Accounting Department Budgets/Realization/Deadlines
  • Conduct weekly accounting meetings
  • Attend weekly management meetings
  • Work with Dept. Heads to ensure deadlines are met
  • Schedule client meetings, agenda and manage report due dates.
  • Assist with other client services as outlined in the firm's engagement letter and proposal submitted to the client.
  • Supports the organization's financial objectives by providing financial analyses and recommendations and directing team within scope of engagement.
  • Develops accounting organizational strategies by contributing accounting and financial information, analysis, and recommendations for strategic thinking and direction, and establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
  • Provides financial projections by coordinating budget/forecast preparation, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial information, and advising departments on the collection and analysis of data
  • Maximizes sales margins by recommending product and service pricing policies
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in QuickBooks; strong excel and computer skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple deadlines

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BS or BA in accounting
  • 5 or more years of relevant accounting experience
  • 3 or more years accounting senior work and/or management experience
  • Experience supervising accounting team
  • Experience in accounts payable and accounts receivables
  • CPA preferred
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
