Westbrook Health Services is seeking an Accountant/Grant Coordinator to join our growing team! The ideal candidate has a Bachelors' Degree in Accounting, experience with Great Plains, and experience working with Grants in a Non-profit environment.
The position is responsible for performing accounting functions under the direction of the Controller and in accordance with generally accepted accounting procedures. In addition, this position also does the invoicing and reconciliation of state, local, and federal grants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in general ledger, posting and reconciling all general ledger accounts.
- Creates yearly budgets for grant funds
- Inputs and reviews data into Excel documents.
- Prepares monthly grant invoices and submits them to appropriate facilities/agencies
- Prepares quarterly grant reconciliation documentation and submits it to appropriate facilities/agencies
- Prepares monthly grant expenditure reports and presents them to supervisors/managers
- Balances Grants Income and Expenses.
- Reports spending discrepancies as necessary
- Preparing month end entries for closure of accounting period (accruals, overhead, etc).
- Prepares Sworn Statements of Expenditure report for yearly grant reconciliations
- Complies with federal, state and company policies, procedures and regulations
- Maintains confidentiality of all information and complies with HIPAA regulations
- Demonstrates knowledge of and supports Westbrook Health Services mission, vision, values, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards and code of ethical behavior.
- Other duties as needed.
Qualification Requirements:
- Excellent attention to detail working accurately and efficiently under time constraints.
- Motivated self-starter.
- Extensive Excel experience required.
- Able to use basic office machines such as computer system with programmed software and fax machine.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately with a variety of individuals in order to convey and receive information effectively.
- Must work well in a team environment.
- Work with staff, consumers and others in a professional, cooperative, ethical, respectful and effective manner.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree is preferred; or an equivalent combination of experience/education, prior computer/PC experience. Associate is required. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Experience in non-profit accounting preferred. Must pass Criminal Investigation Background and DHHR background checks.
