SUMMARY: Works to support 9th grade students and 9th grade teaching teams. Areas ofsupport include, but are not limited to: academic interventions and support, social and emotionalskill development, and development of skills to be successful in a school setting.Salary Range: $14.45 - $19.81ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.Responsible for providing academic support throughout the day,Responsible for providing individual and group assistance to students, including, but not limitedto: subject specific content, study skills, and social and emotional support, empowering studentsto become active and engaged learners.Collect relevant data and data entry.Operates standard school equipment such as computer, laminator, copier, audiovisual, etc.Supports students to develop skills in self awareness, self management, and social awareness.COMMUNICATIONBecause of the nature of the services we provide to our students, teamwork is imperative.Good teamwork starts with professional communication skills that facilitate a safe and structuredenvironment for students and staff.Written communicationAny written communication should be legible, professional and with the best interest of studentsin mind.Verbal communicationFeedback may be delivered in many different methods during the day. Feedback should alwaysbe intended as a tool to improve ones skill and/or increase job knowledge.Directions and Recommendations given by team teachers and school administration should befollowed through with to the greatest extent possible.Communication between Ed. Techs, teachers and school administration should be appropriateto the environment and audience which surrounds them.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must beable to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Reasonable accommodationsmay be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.PREVIOUS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Three years postsecondary education and/or the accumulation of 90 credit hours of approvedstudy in a related area. (For vocational education three years of work experience in the field.)This is essential for Education Technician III certification required by Maine DOE.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend technical educational instructions, short correspondence, andmemos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in 1:1,1:2 and small group situations to students, co-teachers, and other school personnel asappropriate.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute mean (average), rate, ratio, and percentand to draw bar and line graphs.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to follow complex educational and behavioral treatment plans. Ability to find solutionswhen plans are exhausted that are within the scope of applicable laws, and methodology ofApplied Behavior Analysis and QBS, Safety Care.OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Previous work in child care and/or education is preferred. Ability to develop effective workingrelationships with students, staff and the school community.

Ability to communicate clearly andconcisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all districtrequirements and School committee policies.
