We have available hours in the Spring, but most shifts take place in the sumer (May-August) The National Flight Academy (NFA) is seeking young adults to serve in the capacity of ‘camp counselor’ at an aviation based STEM camp! The position requires role play as U.S. Navy personnel aboard the simulated aircraft carrier at the NFA on Naval Air Station Pensacola. Staff will serve as mentors and counselors to NFA program attendees. The position is responsible for supervising groups (squadrons) of 12 youth attendees on average and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: Must be able to pass a level two back ground screening. Must have a valid driver’s license or state issued ID card. Must have reliable transportation. Must be at least 19 years of age.

AM and PM Counselor will lead their assigned squadron through the daily portions of the program schedule. These activities will include off-ship excursions (field trips), small and large group team building exercises, assisting the facilitators with mission instruction, flight planning exercises, and the execution of planned missions.

Hangar Bay Counselor will be responsible for low-level troubleshooting of hardware and software problems in the Hangar Bay, joining multiplayer sessions, and assisting students with in program objectives. Any problems suspected to be beyond the Hangar Bay Counselor or outside of their expertise will be reported to the Hangar Bay Technician on duty

Weekend Counselor will be responsible for weekly preparation, check in, graduation setup and tear down, and final clean up each week. They will also mentor/counsel early and late arrivals as assigned and help manage transportation.

Pay: Hourly

Work Environment: The work location is the National Flight Academy facility on Pensacola Naval Air Station, Pensacola, FL. The employee will be required to work primarily indoors in dimly-lit, air conditioned settings in an educational-gaming/classroom environment. Counselors will also spend portions of their day outside in the Pensacola heat. Work will include long periods of computer screen monitoring and use of technology resources. The work period is primarily May through August.
