Job description
This employee will be responsible for all field data collection, collation and analysis of vaious biological, chemical, and physical factors associated with management of sportfish and nongame fish populations found in the reservoirs, state fishing lakes, and streams of South Carolina.
Job Duties Include:
- Collecting and supervising the collection of scientifically valid field data from Region 1 waters.
- Ensuring field data collection and entry follow standardized protocols, and data are collected and sufficiently analyzed to meet specific study objectives.
- Writing job progress and job final reports for specifically assigned projects.
- Planning and conducting aquatic habitat enhancements in the Region's public waters to benefit fishery resources.
- Assisting with sport fish angler surveys on Region 1 waterbodies.
- Investigating fish kills and proposed development projects that impact public aquatic systems.
- Addressing environmental issues within the region and providing comments/recommendations when necessary to the appropriate parties.
- Conducting outreach activities to resource user groups, public and private organizations.
- Inspecting issued equipment.
- Conducting literature review of reservoir habitat enhancement evaluations and study results of Hartwell habitat telemetry study.
- Incorporating results into habitat enhancement prescriptions for reservoirs that emphasize benefit for native gamefish (largemouth bass, black crappie).
A master's degree in biology, chemistry or related technical area field; or a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, wildlife management or related technical area and two (2) years of experience relevant to the job.
