Basic Purpose

The Web Content Strategist is self-motivated, data-driven, and dedicated to improving the member experience and supporting business priorities through web content strategy. Knowledge of taxonomy, digital asset management, content management systems (CMS), search engine optimization (SEO) and online/digital metrics using industry best practices. Partnering with other members of their product team, including developers, UX designers, copywriters and stakeholders, ensuring deliverables fulfil strategic needs and improve the member experience. Assist in the development of a cross-channel content strategy and define stakeholders’ content requirements to support their goals and corporate objectives. Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal business owners, third party vendors, and Marketing, and Digital Channels teams to ensure content strategy is aligned with best practices and supports corporate goals and initiatives. Works independently with guidance and direction from higher level staff and management.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to define and launch product vision and strategy
  • Collaborate with and provide insight on content strategies to Marketing management/staff, and business owners to ensure all properties are up-to-date, engaging, and consistent across all channels
  • Collaborate with the User Experience (UX) team to define user models and interfaces for new/updated features and functionality
  • Collaborates across channels to deliver an effective content marketing strategy and editorial plan to meet business objectives and member needs to increase satisfaction, engagement and drive brand and product awareness
  • Analyze and report content initiative results and make recommendations for future campaigns and projects
  • Assist with determining when added product value should be pushed to members/employees
  • Assist with the product backlog including refinement of stories with cross-functional team
  • Assist with delivering communications/presentations to executive management
  • Assist with the execution of program priorities and ensures the conceptual and technical integrity of the features or components for the team
  • Conduct audits to create content inventories and gap analyses and to identify deviations from approved content strategy and recommend corrective action
  • Assist with the development of content strategy architecture, digital asset management, content management systems (CMS), and online/digital metrics based on industry best practices
  • Assist with the development and recommend changes to improve usability of digital content , functionality, interactivity, and usability of site(s) to management
  • Evaluate, test, edit, and optimize digital experiences
  • Influence, and motivate product team and stakeholders towards continuous improvement of product
  • Partner with business analysts to integrate usability studies, user research, and market analysis to into product requirements
  • Proactively work with product team to formulate creative ideas or solutions for potential issues
  • Provide assistance to developers, designers, and third party vendors in content creation consistent with Navy Federal’s standards and business objectives
  • Regularly analyze true needs for product features
  • Comply with corporate brand standards, marketing style guides, and legal requirements
  • Review site analytics to monitor user behavior, refine content and messaging strategies; recommend changes to Search Engine Optimization/Search Engine Marketing (SEO/SEM)
  • Assist with ensuring integrity & governance of digital content, that it meets brand standards and improves member experience
  • Stay current with technology as well as, government/policy impacts and industry best practices
  • Track/coordinate implementation of digital content enhancements/development and ensure deadlines are met
  • Translate program vision into product user stories
  • Work with internal content authors, and provide feedback to third party content suppliers
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Information Technology or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
  • Familiarity with interactive usability best practices and concepts
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Familiarity with translating complex concepts, customer needs, motivations and behaviors into easy-to-understand interactive experiences and deliverables
  • Familiarity with using web analytics software (Google Analytics, and Adobe Analytics)
  • Knowledge of interactive design and information architecture
  • Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy as applied to content
  • Knowledge of digital and online technologies, best practices, trends, issues, editing and authoring tools
  • Exposure to managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
  • organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Exposure to content delivery, site governance and content management for high traffic websites
  • Skill navigating multiple screens and PC applications and adapting to new technologies
  • Exposure to shaping and developing innovative solutions while managing business risks
  • Exposure to various content management systems (Adobe AEM preferred) and experience with site governance, user roles and workflows
  • Effective skill building effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy and tact

Desired Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Experience in scrum product management or ownership
  • HTML skills, including knowledge of CSS, JavaScript
  • Knowledge of the financial services environment and Navy Federal's functions, policies, procedures, products, and services
  • Experience working in a demanding, fast paced, creative environment similar to an advertising agency
  • Familiarity of using CMS
  • Understanding of web/digital best practices
  • Familiarity or previous experience in project management

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.

Salary Range: Level I $38.00 - $48.50 hourly | Level II $91,100 - $127,200 annually

Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range, based on your experience, location and market position.
