Overview:
Waterman Valve, a division of McWane Plant & Industrial, is a recognized leader in water control products for water treatment, wastewater, high-volume agricultural and rural surface water delivery, hydro-power, and flood control management. We are a leading provider of water control gates, valves, automated controls and accessories to these markets and key customers such as government agencies (water districts, utilities, flood control districts) and agricultural water users (growers, cooperatives).

Waterman Valve has one of the industry’s largest manufacturing operations where we fabricate, machine, and test our water control products. Led by managers trained in the latest quality systems, we carefully monitor all of our processes to ensure quality at each step of design and construction.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Senior Design Engineer based out of the Exeter, CA location. As a Senior Design Engineer, the team member provides leadership in the Engineering Department in the areas of new product development which includes planning and designing water control devices and other mechanically functioning water equipment. Oversee the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of such equipment and systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Planning and development of innovative product designs by working with other engineering staff, senior management, sales and operations resources to create cost-effective, easy-to-produce products.
  • Resolve problems using solutions that may involve new techniques and technologies.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
  • Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software.
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and water control equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
  • Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems.
  • Professional conduct at all times when acting on behalf of Waterman Valve.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering; and two years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience a plus in designing municipal, water management and irrigation products, experience with Agricultural Irrigation Districts and/or fluids background. PLC Numerical controls also a plus.

Compensation: $80k-$88k annually
