The Bogus Basin Recreational Area is seeking a highly motivated individual who is committed to providing water/wastewater for a growing year-round resort. This position would be responsible for assisting with various aspects under the direction of the Director of Water/Wastewater. Primary duties are monitoring and maintaining raw and finished water quality by making adjustments to water treatment chemicals based on online analyzers.

This position will be required to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public
  • Operate and maintain water production and treatment facilities; troubleshooting and preventative maintenance; recognizes the need for and makes operational changes to processes and systems to meet water quality standards;
  • Follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently, along with and/or in groups.
  • Be safety conscious.
  • Ability to properly use hand and power tools.
  • Interpret water quality/quantity data and make appropriate adjustments.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Ability to perform daily record keeping, water quality sampling, and wastewater sampling.
  • Knowledge of and ability to monitor objects and data for compliance and operating standards.
  • Ability to perform maintenance of grounds, buildings, and lagoons.
  • Identifies, reports, or corrects unusual conditions or safety hazards.
  • Diagnoses, analyzes, and corrects problems in the water, and/or wastewater systems.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Assist with special projects including other departments’ projects, as needed.
  • Assist with guests in areas such as traffic control, jump starts, and selling gas.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

  • Must have at least three of these licenses: Drinking Water Operator Treatment Class 1, Drinking Water Operator Distribution Class 1, Wastewater Collection Operator Class1, Wastewater Treatment Operator Class 1, and Wastewater Treatment Operator – Land Application
  • Must be able to obtain all State of Idaho required Water and Wastewater Licensures within a reasonable period of time that is agreed upon.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals and gases.
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Exposure to high noise levels, fumes or particles, risk of electric shock.
