General Information
LOCATION: Southwest Water Reclamation Facility - 5101 65th St. W.., Bradenton, FL
HOURS: Potential Shifts:
At the Wastewater Plant -
12 hour shift / 8:00pm-8:00am / 2 days on - 2 days off
12 hour shift / 8:00am-8:00pm / 2 days on - 2 days off
At the BioSolid Dryer -
Monday - Thursday / 7:00am-7:00pm or 7:00pm-7:00am
Pay Grade: G - J
In accordance with level of qualifications, to perform various duties associated with the operation and maintenance of Manatee County wastewater plants, related facilities, and equipment. NOTE: POSITION LEVEL AND SALARY WILL BE DEPENDENT ON QUALIFICATIONS (DOQ).
Starting Pay:
Trainee: $17.05/hour
Operator I: $18.70/hour
Operator II: $20.45/hour
Operator III: $22.40/hour
ADDITIONAL "CAREER INCENTIVE" PAY IS AWARDED FOR THE FOLLOWING LEVELS: OPERATOR II/CLASS "B" LICENSE - $1.00 PER HOUR; OPERATOR III/CLASS "A" LICENSE - $1.50 PER HOUR.

Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirements
High school graduate/equivalent. Courses in Chemistry or related subjects desired.
Experience Requirements
Trainee: No experience required; prior experience in servicing mechanical equipment and machinery desired.
Operator I, II, III: Prior experience related to the operation of mechanical/electrical equipment. Desired: Experience in operating a fork lift.
License Requirements
Trainee: No license required; must secure FDEP Class C Wastewater Operator License within two (2) years of employment.
Operator I: FDEP Class "C" Wastewater Operator License
Operator II: FDEP Class "B" Wastewater Operator License
Operator III: FDEP Class "A" Wastewater Operator License
Drivers License
Valid driver's license with valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills
Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment related to area assigned.
Ability to read meters, gauges, charts, etc., and maintain appropriate records.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb and descend ladders, stairs, etc.
Ability to distinguish colors.
Ability to perform duties under a variety of environmental conditions, which may include various climatic temperatures and working with chemicals, fumes, odors, etc.
Ability to kneel, stoop, reach, and perform other physical movements necessary for duties assigned.
Ability to clearly identify sounds, i. e., backing equipment warnings, voice commands, running equipment, etc.
Skill in computer operations and pertinent software applications.
