Continental Manufacturing Chemist (CMC) is looking for a skilled Warehouse Worker/Forklift Operator to join the day shift team in our Huxley, IA location.

Warehouse Worker/Forklift Operators are responsible for moving raw materials and finished products into, around, through, and out of our facilities. The person in this role will move materials by hand, pallet-jack, and/or by forklift. The forklift must be operated with the utmost care to ensure efficiency and safety. The role involves driving a forklift around warehouses, storage spaces, and through other production areas. The ideal candidate for this role will be a responsible individual with experience in driving industrial vehicles.

Our evening shift runs Monday to Thursday 2:45pm to 1:15am. Maintaining a little bit of flexibility to work some minor voluntary over-time during the work week (this is very rare & does not typically exceed 50 hours a week) and/or slightly adjusted shifts (plus or minus an hour to the start/end time) to meet production demand is critical.

Warehouse Worker/Forklift Operator Responsibilities

• Facilitation of the movement and tracking of raw materials, packaging components, and finished goods
• Pulling packaging materials for production orders per production schedule and pick list
• Maintaining accurate and timely documentation, including Move Tickets, Shipping Orders, and other records
• Recording documentation into inventory systems as assigned
• Preparation of obsolete materials for disposal according to Hazardous Material training and according to Obsolete Inventory List, as provided
• Proper storage of incoming packaging materials according to Good Manufacturing Practices
• Assisting with good housekeeping and cleaning of warehouse areas for accurate inventory and to prevent hazards
• Loading finished goods onto outgoing vehicles
• Unloading of materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles
• Putting away incoming materials and merchandise to assigned storage locations
• Location and movement of product to pallets and/or crates for storage and/or shipment
• Identification and reporting of damaged stock or product
• Reporting shortages or quality deficiencies
• Transportation of raw materials by hand, pallet-jack, and/or forklift to production workstations
• Inspection of industrial equipment/machinery to determine need for preventative maintenance and/or repairs
• Regularly updating inventory records and activity logs
• Compliance with company policies and legal guidelines
• Contributes to a safe and orderly facility environment
• Ensuring work practices in the Chemical Hygiene Plan are followed
• Performing operations in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and FDA Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Completion of certified OSHA forklift training to safely operate forklifts.
• Completion of DOT 49CFR Shipper Course for transportation of Hazardous materials.
• Other duties and projects as assigned

Warehouse Worker/Forklift Operator Education and/or Experience:

• Required: Prior proven work experience working in a warehouse
• Required: Prior proven work experience operating a sit-down forklift
• Preferred: High School Diploma/GED/equivalent

Other Qualifications/Requirements for the Warehouse Worker/Forklift Operator role:

• Multi-tasking, problem solving, and maintaining flexibility under pressure and production demands to ensure safe, timely, and accurate completion of projects
• Familiarity with common industrial equipment, such as forklifts, pallet-jacks, pallet wrappers, and others
• Performance of basic math (such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
• Strong attention to detail for accurate inventory record keeping
• Good written and verbal communication skills to facilitate accurate documentation and efficient teamwork for project completion

Warehouse Worker/Forklift Operator Physical Requirements:

• Frequently: Walking, standing, bending, kneeling, twisting, climbing, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50 to 60lbs with mechanical/team assistance, some exposure to dust/fumes/or chemicals in a manufacturing environment (appropriate PPE is provided). Operating a sit-down forklift.
• Constantly: Simple hand grasping, use of special visual or auditory protective equipment (PPE).
