Job description

Well established and growing company is looking for Pickers and Packers for its East Dundee, IL facility. Pickers and Packers will be responsible for safely selecting and packing live tropical fish, birds, and small companion animals for transport to customers.

Hours are Monday-Thursday from 11am to 6:00/7:00pm and Sunday's from 9am to 2/3pm, off on Friday and Saturday.

Qualified candidates will be passionate pet enthusiasts and able to accurately fill order requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Reads customer orders to identify the appropriate fish, birds, or small companion animals for delivery to customers.
• Safely selects and packs live tropical fish, birds, and small companion animals for delivery customers.
• Visually inspects all fish, birds, and small companion animals prior to transport to ensure injured or sick animals are properly cared for.
• Maintains a clean, sanitary, and safe work area to ensure all animals are properly cared for pursuant to Apet’s Pledge of Care.
• Maintains a safe working environment, keeping all areas clean and clear.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Maintains safe and compassionate animal handling practices, at all times, while performing job duties.
• Ability to read and understand customer orders and accurately prepare orders for delivery.
• Ability to multi-task and operate with a sense of teamwork.
• Understands the basic needs of tropical fish, birds, and small companion animals.
• Ability to work independently.
• Willingness to learn about all aspects of the animal care industry.
