Our client is a global leader in the manufacturing, sales and servicing of food processing equipment. They are building a new warehouse to support their parts operation for the Americas. They are looking to hire a Warehouse Operations Manager during the construction phase of the project, to help project manage the construction, get involved in the automation design and work with the outside contractors involved in the project. The Warehouse Operations Manager will also manage the existing parts operation at Corporate HQ during the construction of the new facility, splitting His/Her time between the locations. Once completed, The Warehouse Operations Manager will hire the team and run the new facility, managing about 25 people.

Position

The Warehouse Operations Manager will manage and oversee the receiving, handling, storing, picking, and packing activities within the warehouse, ensuring quality standards are met at every turn.

Key Responsibilities

· Excellent leadership skills, incl leading and working with multi location organizations.

· Planning, organizing, and controlling of Warehouse over-all operations and staffing.

· Building an organization and location from scratch, including envisioning and defining the warehouse layout plus automation opportunities.

· Deep knowledge of international shipping (Import/Export).

· Strategic involvement with leading continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma and similar principles.

· Manage inventory control; receipt, storage, retrieval, and timely delivery of goods; shipment loading & transferring; document recording and date entry into system. Also responsible for defining and implementing systematic structural cycle count procedures.

· Follow up & control daily absence and overtime.

· Ensure that the workplace’s health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the security of the building and stock.

· Implement cost reduction principles in all aspects of warehouse transactions and activities.

· Constant improvement and development of warehouse operations to ensure most efficient working methods ensuring efficient and flawless execution of shipments to customers

· Establish a culture of engagement and set the strategic direction for the team.

· Maintain housekeeping of warehouse and surrounding area.

· Observes all safety, quality, and other company rules and regulations in the performance of duties.

Education

· BA/BS degree required, ideally in Operations Management, Engineering, Business Management or similar

Experience

· 5+ years of experience in a Distribution Manager, Warehouse Manager, Operations Manager, Logistics Manager, or similar role.

· Experience in transforming a warehouse into a world-class distribution center is a must.

- Experience with warehouse automation, conveyors, vertical storage, etc.

- Experience with WMS and/or ERP systems

Functional Skills

· Excellent strategic, organizational planning and executing skills

· Experience in formulizing and leading Key Performance Indicators

· Computer applications using MS office and Excel

· Experience with with ERP systems is desired

· Working knowledge of warehouse / mechanical equipment

· Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, regulations and the willingness to become certified in one or more of these areas as necessary

· Excellent leadership skills, leading a diverse team towards common goals

· Excellent customer service skills

· Excellent analytical and mathematical skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
