Purpose of this position:

The Vice President of Finance (VP) is responsible for all transactional finance and fiscal management. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), The Vice President of Finance oversees the financial operations, accounts payable, payroll, billing and contracts/grants management for the agency. This position is also responsible to lead and continuously improve the systems, processes, and procedures to position the Agency as a quality service provider, also meeting the DHS, HUD, OASAS, and local, state, and federal grant requirements. The VP will manage day to day operation and responsible for timely and accurate external and internal financial reporting, audits, coordinate with CFO to ensure that all aspects of the organization’s finances are in aligned with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) and other applicable regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Accounting and contract and budget team to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions. Manage, mentor and coach the Accounting, Procurement and Contracts & Budget teams.
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Assist in ensuring accuracy of financial and management reporting for federal and state funders, foundations, and Win’s Board of Directors.
  • Accountable Perform bank treasury functions and routinely review revenue cycle metrics to proactively identify and address issues affecting overall performance.
  • Manage compliance relationships with Win & its affiliates, contracts, grants and management reporting.
  • Ensure government and annual audits and proper filing of tax returns.
  • Ensure tax filings and reporting for all Win related entities including real estate development and housing entities.
  • Assist in cash flow planning, investment and asset management, and ensure availability of funds as needed.
  • Oversee in coordination with CFO financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships.
  • Assist in coordination with CFO preparing the development and monitoring of agency’s operating budget.
  • Develop programmatic and departmental budgets and forecasts as needed.
  • Represent the organization to its financial partners, including financial institutions, donors, auditors, and grantors on an as needed basis.
  • Complete annual performance evaluations.
  • Remain up to date on nonprofit audit best practices and state, federal and local law regarding nonprofit operations, including the New York Nonprofit Revitalization Act and its amendments and the new modified Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) financial reporting standards for nonprofits.


Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to sit at a computer for long periods of time during the work day.
  • Must be able to attend meetings and events using public transportation.


Qualifications:

  • Commitment to Win’s mission, vision, and values.
  • MBA or related degree required.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in a senior financial-management partnering with executive staff and the implementation of financial management strategies required.
  • Demonstrated experience of nonprofit accounting, fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Office of Management and Budget Circular A133 audits.
  • Knowledge of tax credit housing accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency with financial management software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
