The Volunteers and Community Partnerships (VCP) Manager oversees the management of the GLIDE’s Volunteers and Community Partnerships Program which designs, coordinates, administers, and supports meaningful and impactful volunteer opportunities at GLIDE. All volunteer and community partnership opportunities support and furthers GLIDE’s mission and values, and advances GLIDE’s capacity to deliver relevant and quality services to the community. This position collaborates effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners to augment GLIDE’s ability to fulfill its strategic plan through volunteerism and community partnerships. The position supervises department staff to provide engaging and responsive communication to build relationships that foster GLIDE’s values and commitment to social justice and provides coaching for staff professional growth and development. Regular and engaged attendance is critical. This position occasionally works nontraditional hours/weekends and is expected to work on major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees daily operations for volunteers and community partners recruitment and cultivation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (i.e. Programs, Center for Social Justice, Fundraising, Church, etc.) to identify, develop and administer volunteer opportunities that drive GLIDE’s mission and values forward and supports department strategies and goals.
  • Create, administer, and evaluate volunteer and community partnership policies and procedures that reflect the organization's mission and values and supports programs’ engagement with volunteers.
  • Develop and create general volunteer onboarding and orientation materials and tools and provide consultation to other departments that desire to create more program-specific volunteer training materials, as needed.
  • Develop formal community partnerships with external agencies that support and grow volunteerism, internships, community engagement and services for GLIDE.
  • Collaborate with Fund Development team to maintain opportunities for donor engagement and corporate partnerships, especially for special events and during the holidays.
  • Collaborate with Communications to develop and craft volunteer communications through email blasts, social media, newsletters, etc. for volunteer promotion, recognition and appreciation (i.e. National Volunteer Week)
  • Collaborate with CALI to design, create, and provide different avenues for volunteers to provide feedback on their experiences.
  • Develop administrative processes to maintain accurate and current statistics and documentation of volunteerism in all relevant databases. Provide process and front-end user training to departments using the Volunteer Salesforce database for shift management and data collection.
  • Oversee and manage department staffing resources to ensure adequate and consistent coverage onsite and at volunteer engagement events.
  • Supervise and coach program staff to complete their work and to grow their professional capacities.
  • Attend internal meetings such as events steering, holiday planning, and other special events/project meetings and plan and lead volunteer efforts as needed for events.
  • Represent GLIDE in public-facing meetings such as volunteer orientations, social justice education for school/corporate/church groups, and collaborative partnership workgroups.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directly supervise department staff and interns.
  • Coach and mentor direct reports with regards to performance and problem resolution.
  • Consistently communicate responsibilities and expectations through regular performance evaluations and current, accurate job descriptions.
  • Oversee the professional development of direct reports, including providing appropriate in-house training, and referring staff to targeted trainings within and outside of GLIDE.
  • Work with HR staff to resolve personnel issues in accordance with GLIDE policies and procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years' experience in nonprofit management or a similar field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of the management of volunteer resources. Knowledge of current trends, resources and information related to community engagement and volunteerism.
  • Experience working in a community-based social service agency with homeless and impoverished populations desired.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
  • Communicates effectively: Speaks, listens and writes in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques. Has the ability to effectively communicate the organization's mission, goals and objectives.
  • Proficiency in grammar and spelling required. Strong editing and proofreading skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and report out on program data.
COMPUTER SKILLS
  • Strong computer proficiency with MS Office.
  • Strong proficiency in database management concepts.
  • Salesforce experience preferred.
