Experienced Veterinary Technician wanted either Full Time or Part Time. Busy, privately-owned animal hospital in NE Minneapolis is looking for an enthusiastic, team player to join our team. Apache Animal Hospital provides excellent veterinary care along with an emphasis on building a bond with our clients and their pets.

Applicants must excel at building relationships with our clients! We believe client education should happen in the clinic - not from "Dr. Google". Work as a team with the veterinarian to provide top notch medical care and exceptional, personal service to each and every client and patient.

All staff are Fear Free certified. No more wrestling patients during nail trims, no more holding fractious cats for blood draws! Fear Free handling is best for everyone - the clients love it, the patients are less stressed and staff members don't get scratched and bruised!

Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm with 30 minutes for lunch.

NO WEEKENDS, NO NIGHTS - We are typically out no later than 20 minutes past end of shift.

Duties include:

• 2 technicians assigned per doctor in exam rooms. Take patient history, prepare treatment estimates, assist doctor with vaccines and treatments, collect blood, urine and other specimens as needed, discharge patients and collect payments in the exam room
• 2 technicians assigned surgery/dentals - calculate and draw up all meds for surgery/dental patients including pre-surgical pain meds and anti-emetics, monitor anesthesia, perform dental prophys, full mouth dental rads (digital) and assist with dental charting.
• perform in house labs such as ear cytology, Idexx Procyte, Idexx Catalyst, Idexx Sedivue and Idexx Snap reader
• complete technician appointments such as nail trims, anal glands, blood pressure monitoring, routing bloodwork monitoring, SQ fluids and more

Requirements:

• CVT preferred, but experience veterinary technicians will be considered
• Minimum 2 years working in a veterinary clinic is required
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills needed due to the volume of client education we perform in person and via email/phone
• Strong attention to detail
• Fear Free certified preferred, but will pay for certification after 3 months
• Ability to work with multiple interruptions while still keeping track of all duties is critical
• This position is fairly physical - must be able to be on feet for majority of the shift. We routinely perform exams/blood draws/nail trims of medium and large dogs on the floor. Frequent kneeling and bending is not uncommon

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
