Vendor Furnished Information Coordinator

Department: Engineering


Summary

The VFI Coordinator’s role is to support both the Distributive Systems (DS) and Outfitting divisions for all programs, with a strong focus on LCS, MMSC, and FFG. The VFI Coordinator is the primary interface and point of contact for tracking and transmittal of contract required deliverables and information between Trident, suppliers and customers.


Responsibilities


Purchase Technical Specifications


  • Review Ship Specifications and Customer Supplier Data Requirements List (SDRL) to understand requirements.
  • Create equipment specific Purchase Specifications that encompass all requirements.
  • Submit Purchase Technical Specifications to Engineering Manager for review and approval before releasing to Operations for quote or purchase.
  • Provide support during RFQ/Proposal Phase to ensure Technical and SDRL compliance.
  • POC for Vendors to discuss issues/concerns with requirements .
    • If requirements cannot be met by vendor, need to discuss issue with shipyard to determine a path forward.


Vendor Furnished Information

  • Main POC for the shipyard for all VFI Support.
  • Create and sustain tracker sheets for all VFI per customer and vendor purchase orders.
  • Track submittal due dates based on the PO from the shipyard.
    • Ensure we submit all VFI by the due date. If date cannot be met, notify the shipyard, and agree on a date for submittal.
  • Engage and sustain collaboration between cross-functional teams, including Engineering, ILS, Purchasing, the Program Management Team for VFI status and changes (receiving, tracking, reviewing and submitting VFI).
  • Facilitate VFI Documentation
  • Receive VFI from Vendors.
    • Review submittals to ensure all requirements are met.
    • Interface closely with TMS Engineering to provide access and visibility to VFI received.
    • If there are issues, return to Vendor with comments.
  • If VFI meets all requirements, submit to the shipyard by their required process.
  • Shipyard will either approve or reject VFI.
    • If rejected, review comments and work with the vendor to resolve.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Navy and/or Commercial Shipbuilding Programs
  • Experience with Project/Program Management and Document Control
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivator with attention to details
