Job description
The School of Education at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking applicants for part-time, non-tenure track faculty positions in the Special Education program beginning August 16, 2023.
This is a variable time, term, non-tenure track appointment for Fall 2023 semester. The successful candidate may be re-appointed for future semesters contingent on programmatic needs, funding, and job performance.
Teach courses at the undergraduate level for the Special Education program.
The rank of Assistant Lecturer requires an earned master’s degree in Special Education or a related field; the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice requires an earned doctorate in Special Education or related field.
Applicants for either level must provide evidence in the following areas:
- Broad background in Special Education
- Teaching experience at the K-12 school level (classroom-based, consultant etc.)
- Knowledge and experience related to one or more content areas listed below:
Characteristics of Students with High Incidence Disabilities; Assessment in Special Education; Instructional Planning; Teaching Reading at the Elementary Level and Content Areas; Academic Methods; Methods and Materials for Teaching Functional Curriculum; Behavior Management for Children and Youth with Disabilities; Working with Families and Collaboration with Professionals; Transition from High School.
