Job description

Nationally recognized environmental remediation contractor looking for a Treatment Plant Operator. Training is available.

The daily work will include:
Control equipment and monitor processes
Run tests to make sure that the processes are working correctly
Keep records of water quality and other indicators
Operate and maintain the pumps and motors that move water and wastewater through filtration systems
Adjust the amount of chemicals, such as Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Hydroxide, and Sulfuric Acid, being added to the water
Use computerized systems to monitor plant processes
Fix chemical leaks
Keep records that document compliance
Perform grounds keeping, including snow removal with plow, snow blower, and shovel; painting of structures, pipes, and equipment; and operate various hand and power tools
Participate in routine custodial duties as needed for building and grounds maintenance

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Be able to follow written, spoken instructions and diagrams
Be able to follow health and safety regulations
Be accurate and observant at all times
Have good numeracy skills
Be practical and comfortable using new technology, including computers
Be able to solve problems
Work well as part of a team and on their own initiative
Have a good level of fitness and stamina
Be willing to cope with unpleasant smells and substances
Be prepared to work unsocial hours
Must be available to work on any shift either day or night as the Water Treatment Plant is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week operation
Must have a working telephone for callback
Must obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
Must have a valid driver’s license
OSHA HAZ WHOPPER certificate a plus

SALARY/BENEFITS:
Hourly position; commensurate with qualifications. Extensive company-provided benefit package includes medical, dental, prescription, 401k, and pension plan.
