Tool and Die Maker - 2nd shift $33/hr
Allegion Steelcraft is a major manufacturer of Steel Frames & Doors. As a Tool and Die Maker you will play a key role in ensuring the equipment and manufacturing facility are running efficiently!

Tool and die license (journeyman certificate) or at least 10 years' experience as a tool and die maker is required.
What You Will Do:

  • Adhere to all safety compliance and standards
  • Organize and determine work procedures and sequences
  • Select materials in accordance with specifications and layout project components for machining operations
  • Perform difficult machining operations requiring complicated and unusual setups necessitating frequent improvisations and adaptations of tooling and machines to perform work beyond the normal range and capacity of available machine tools
  • Use sketches, blueprints, specifications and models to plan operations for the fabrication of dies, tools and assemblies, ensuring safety and maximum efficiency
  • Verify dimensions of finished parts to ensure they conform to specifications using dial indicators, gauge blocks, calipers and micrometers
  • Utilize hand and machine tools to assemble parts of tools and dies and to repair and modify gauges, jigs and dies
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and perform repairs on tools and dies
  • Set up and cut internal or external threads of a non-standard specification. Repair and recondition die parts sometimes requiring the addition of a weld to die sections and machining and fitting die parts
  • In the absence of specifications or design detail, proceed from own conception and select materials, dimensional allowances for fits and tolerances, material treatment methods, etc
  • Troubleshoot complicated die functioning problems in press
  • Occasionally do experimental work on mechanisms, testing devices or machining complicated parts
  • Follow standardized methods of work

What You Need to Succeed

  • Tool and die license (journeyman certificate) or at least 10 years' experience as a tool and die maker is required.
  • Able to train on 1st shift for a few weeks if needed
