As a Residential Therapist, you will be responsible for participating in the efficient operation of the Behavioral Health Program as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide therapeutic interventions for youth with past and current substance use, misuse, abuse, and dependency.
  • Conduct assessment to determine youth intensity of need
  • Provide individual, group, and crisis support.
  • Contribute to the development of safety and treatment plans upon entry to program and update as required.
  • Maintain electronic records with daily documentation (within 24 hours of service).
  • Referrals and advocacy to outside services when appropriate/needed.
  • Provide after-care services including in-home counseling, case management, and referral information with exited clients.
  • Collaborates with case managers and other team members, the client, family (if appropriate) and collaborating agencies, attends service meetings (ie. CFT and TDM).
  • Work with Case managers, program managers and youth care workers to provide comprehensive services to the youth and provide training and guidance to staff related to trauma informed interventions and positive youth development.
  • Provides outreach and public education as requested by Clinical supervisor.
  • Participates in staffing and team meetings on a weekly basis or as required.
  • Creates group calendar monthly and group curriculums as needed.
  • Attends a variety of meetings and provides client advocacy and empowerment through assistance in identifying community supports.
  • Develops and facilitates individualized discharge planning.
  • Manages and maintains detailed contractually obligated documentation for external agencies.
  • Determines, directs and facilitates the most beneficial and therapeutic services for clients on case load; utilizes consultation services as available and appropriate.
  • Facilitates crisis and post-crisis management as needed.
  • Assists in the development, management and facilitation of assigned trainings and groups.
  • Participates in continuing education and training especially related to the field of adolescent abuse and neglect.
  • Meets regularly for individual supervision
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related behavioral health area AND one-year related experience.
  • Residential and substance abuse experience preferred.
  • Must have or be eligible for State Behavioral Health licensure.
  • Must have experience in a word processing in a Windows environment.
  • Must be able to display verbal and written communication skills that meet the requirements of the position and needs of clients.
