Position title: Theatre Technician

Location: Pleasant Hill, CA

Reporting relationships: Reports to Project Manager
Status: Full and Part-time hourly positions available

Position summary:

Desired Effect is a full service theatrical production company in the San Francisco Bay Area. We offer equipment rental in Lighting, Sound and Special Effects as well as full service design, operation and custom special effects.

We are looking for confident individuals with a willingness to learn to join our team of technicians! Technicians focus on either lighting, sound, or video effects. We serve clients throughout the Bay Area, primarily theatre companies and schools, to help run the technical aspects of their performances. Technicians will travel to client sites to help with installations, lighting hang and focus, running sound and light boards, and loading out after performances. Experience and Education:

Applicants are asked to have a high school diploma or the equivalent.

Compensation:

The hourly wage rate for this position varies depending on experience. We welcome people both with zero experience or with many years of professional experience in the business! Pay scale falls between $17-$30. Employees who consistently work 30+ hours per week are considered full-time and are eligible for health benefits.

These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Theatre Technician position. While performing the responsibilities of the Lead Audio Tech position, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Other physical demands of the Lead Audio Tech position may include handling and carrying equipment of substantial weight for sustained periods of time, such as when loading in and out of performance venues. The position also may involve loading trucks, climbing ladders, and other fairly rigorous physical movements.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.25 - $30.00 per hour
