Position Description

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions, the temporary Admissions Application Reader is responsible for the holistic review of applications submitted by First Time in College (FTIC) students to Seattle University. This position is a remote/virtual position. Candidate must have personal access to computer system and internet to retrieve and review online applications.

Essential Functions:
  • Exercises professional judgment in reviewing, evaluating, and recommending applicants for admission using established guidelines.
  • Review and evaluate approximately 120-140 applications a week.
  • Review application materials including Common Application, transcripts, letters of recommendations and essays, and standardized test scores.
  • Summarize applicants’ strengths and weaknesses.
  • Consults with experienced level staff when reviewing more complex applications.
  • Reviews admissions training materials and becomes familiar with major prerequisites and program-specific entrance requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Ability to review applications between 30-40 hours each week
  • One year professional work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job functions.
  • Must possess well-developed organizational skills, strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of college admission trends and issues in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous application review and admissions experience (one-year minimum).
  • Slate CRM experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and federal and state privacy laws.
  • Experience working with diverse young adult and youth populations.

Compensation at a Glance:

Hourly Rate: $20-25 per hour

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
