Yorktel is currently seeking a Technical Writer who will be a vital part of the Operations Delivery Production team. They will create all levels and types of technical printed and electronic content. They will also perform research, analysis, collaborating with technical staff, and coordinating writing efforts. The Technical Writer will be responsible for providing write-ups and documentation for Yorktel’s technical projects such as technical proof of concepts, new product development, hardware refreshes, operating systems rollouts, computer image updates, ongoing infrastructure changes, etc. The target receipts of the technical writer’s work would be large audiences such Yorktel end users, internal staff, vendors, clients, and more.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The Technical Writer will interface daily with members of the Design Engineering and Commissioning Engineering Teams in support of developing device configuration guides, User Acceptance Tests, Quick Reference Guides, as well as documenting the results of Proof of Concepts being developed in the production environment
  • When necessary, Technical Writer may interface with other Yorktel team members performing related work for the customer
  • The Technical Writer will create all levels and types of technical printed and electronic content
  • The Technical Writer will lead the development of documentation templates and standard formatting for the Operations department
  • The Technical Writer will assist in the maintenance and development of standardized internal documents, such as SOPs and Workflow Documents, as well as assist with further developing and updating team run books

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and employees
  • The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and communication skills, as well as maintain a high level of organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • High level of initiative and autonomy, and be willing to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels with clients both internal and external to Yorktel

Education and Experience

  • 2 plus years in a similar Technical or Documentation role
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required

Physical Requirements

  • May require occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs.)
  • Requires extensive sitting, standing, and walking
  • Limited weekend and/or night work may be required
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license is a requirement and must have a positive driver’s abstract
  • Must be willing to complete background checks and drug tests as required by current or future contracts
