As Software Engineer you will work with Engineering Team, Customers, Project, and Product Managers on creation of world-class product.

What You'll Do

The CX Customer Digital Labs System Admin will be a self-starting, collaborative individual that focuses on delivering reliable and secure virtualization infrastructure for Cisco internal and external customers. You will be responsible for working on implementations of new architecture as well as operate and maintain currently offered solutions. Develop automation workflows to streamline the deployment of CX-Labs virtualization infrastructure. Partner with internal tech leaders and external customers to develop and drive virtualization solutions for complex issues, while minimizing downtime and impact to our users.

  • Design and implementation of virtualization as a services infrastructure to provide better experience to our customers
  • Collaborate with multiple teams inside CX-Labs
  • Influence implementation strategies with better operational simplicity
  • Manage Virtualization as a Service infrastructure - vMware/VSphere, Compute (UCS servers, install & Upgrade)
  • Support /Operation – OVA deployment & troubleshooting, VM templates (Windows, Linux), Monitoring (Nagios, Sensu), Backup
  • Lab Services (DHCP, DNS, Proxy, RADIUS, Antivirus (AMP), Filer Server, TFTP/FTP, CI/CD (Jenkins), GitHub Enterprise

Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of virtualization solutions + experience with VMWare/vSphere
  • Experience managing large scale virtualization buildouts
  • Experience with Linux system and troubleshooting
  • Experience developing and deploying IaC with Configuration Management solutions (Ansible/Terraform)
  • Experience in Python is required
  • Experience working with REST APIs
  • Ability to manage a DB server (ie Postgres or Maria) including: install, backup, restore, replication and transactions logs.
  • Deep understanding and ability to write shell scripts (bash)
  • Devops type experience/understanding of how to manage a CI/CD pipeline. (ie git, Jenkins, Github, GitHub Actions)
  • Effective and persuasive communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills, both internally and externally, to be able to discuss technical issues with relevant parties/customers of all levels of technical expertise.
  • Experience working within a large organization and providing support for global operations
  • Able to work across cultures and time zones
  • Able to provide solution-specific knowledge transfer, training, & documentation once accurately equipped
  • BS degree in Computer Science, System Administration, or related technical field recommended

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
