REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous teaching experience or experience working with children.

Educational Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain

General Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Lead Teacher during classroom hours
  • Helps prepare snacks and monitor clean up.
  • Assists in managing classroom behavior and enforcing rules.
  • Prepares and teach short daily activities.
  • Works directly with children practicing letters, numbers, etc.
  • Plays games, read books, sing songs.
  • Assists with set up and clean-up of classroom each day.
  • Helps Lead Teacher monitor students and recognize potential classroom challenges.
  • Takes direction from Lead Teacher.
  • Arrives to the workplace regularly and on time, follows appropriate call in procedures and is dependable overall
  • Engages with current and prospective parents and family members and is responsive to their needs, provides customer service and build trust
  • Assists and accepts responsibilities in center duties that might be temporary in the event other personnel are not available
  • Uses time wisely and takes initiative when appropriate
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, center events, and parent/customer meetings as required
  • Adhere to and act in line with company mission and values at all times
  • Greet children and parents and drop off and pick up
  • Be a supportive and contributing member of the team
  • Demonstrate knowledge of BK’s philosophy and curriculum expectations

Program Responsibilities:

  • Maintains positive learning environments
  • Assists in child evaluations and parent conferences as needed
  • Assists with annual portfolios for children
  • Seeks assistance and support when necessary and provides assistance and support when necessary
  • Engages in professional development
  • Participate in impromptu and scheduled safety drills with the children
  • May be called upon for off-site activities related to team building with co-workers
  • May be called upon to dress in a costume or more formally for functions related to the performing arts curriculum

Classroom Responsibilities:

  • Insures that classroom is safe at all times; participating and/or conducting appropriate safety checks when needed
  • Maintains and insures appropriate head count of all children at all times
  • Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner and seeks additional responsibility when appropriate
  • Performs appropriate housekeeping activities that will insure health and safety to children (i.e., wiping spills, clearing debris, etc.), as well as general cleanliness and orderliness in your classroom

  • Approaches issues and problems through teamwork and collaborative efforts
  • Addresses conflicts in a fair, equitable and diplomatic manner

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Work is performed primarily in the center environment. Centers are dynamic with a high level of activity. Work may also be performed in the community on field trips.

  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and stand for up to 95% of the day
  • Assumes posture at low levels, stoop, sit on floor and bend down numerous times per day
  • Agility to move from seated to standing position quickly to respond to children’s needs
  • Performs all activities with children for prolonged periods such as dancing, jumping, running, and walking
  • Can perform all duties both indoors and outdoors
  • Possess acceptable hearing and vision capabilities in order to monitor well-being of children
  • Work hours may vary to accommodate needs of children and families
