Under the direction of the Educational Administrator, and under the daily supervision of the Team Leader, the Special Education Teacher will develop and teach curriculum to students with a variety of learning needs in a therapeutic and individualized learning environment. Also under the supervision of the Team Leader, the Special Education Teacher helps to develop and implement student IEPs, attends team meetings, and writes quarterly progress reports. The Special Education teacher will communicate with parents regarding academic performance as needed and will perform other duties as assigned by the Educational Administrator or Director.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervises classroom staff and students in classrooms and milieu
  • Helps develop IEPs, integrates IEPs goals and objectives into lesson planning
  • Develops, modifies, and implements curriculum to meet student needs
  • Follows Massachusetts State Curriculum Frameworks
  • Works cooperatively with clinical staff to problem-solve, address student needs
  • Supports student access to sensory diets throughout day
  • Provides social pragmatic supports to students throughout day
  • Assists students with social-emotional processing as needed
  • Supports students during nonacademic periods such as lunch and sensory breaks


Special Education or General Education licensure or waiver
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Special Education, Education, or related field.

Flexibility, team-oriented, problem solving with strong therapeutic classroom skills
Ability to effectively teach and support students with diverse learning needs
