Job Description and Project Overview

LinQuest is building a new multi-dripline engineering team to support the National Security Innovation Network. NSIN is a program in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (USD) for Research and Engineering (R&E), with a mission to build communities of innovators to generate new solutions to national security problems. NSIN develops programs that are designed to help other DoD entities from the Military Services, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, and Defense Agencies and Field Activities solve problems with non-traditional partners from the early-stage venture community and academia. NSIN leads the development of hundreds of innovative projects that require access to both traditional and non-traditional suppliers. With the rapid advancement of technology and increasing dependencies on it, new, capable adversary systems are changing the threat environment, driving Defense system and platform risk to new levels, resulting in the need for technology to be rapidly researched, developed, tested, evaluated, and deployed into operational environments. The LinQuest team will facilitate the NSIN mission providing the technical scope to provide enhanced capabilities for applying NSIN innovative solutions to mission partner problem sets.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the LinQuest team to facilitate the NSIN mission providing the technical scope to provide enhanced capabilities for applying NSIN innovative solutions to mission partner problem sets.
  • As a Systems Engineer you will be an important leader of our engineering team, analyzing technologies and capabilities related to the design, development and deployment of ISR and cyber systems.
  • Conduct AoAs to assess design solution alternatives using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), facilitates cooperation among stakeholders to define technology applications, develops CONOPS and TTPs, conducts engineering studies
  • Develops the Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP), provides analysis to support reviews such as SRR and SFR, and performs engineering functions in support of experimentation, integration and operations.
  • Identify operational efficiency of systems while taking responsibility to configuring networks, performing hardware deployments, and implementing software according to engineering plans
  • Studying, analyzing, and providing recommendations on solutions, acquisition strategies, develop program documentation, program phase transition plans, supplemental information, and program execution.
  • Providing Honest Broker assessments of programs and new technologies identifying prime contractor technical and operational issues.
  • Researching and providing technical analysis for the preparation of programmatic documentation and responses to, DOD, COCOMS and Defense Agencies significantly enhancing their Missions.
  • Researching and analyzing program trends, new technologies identifying issues, and recommending solutions.
    Perform technical studies on individual weapon systems, weapon system integration and capability areas.
    Analyzing weapon systems architecture and integration and identifying issues develop plans to incorporate new technologies.
  • Identifying operational deficiencies and other key issues, conducting research to develop alternatives and providing recommendations and support for resolution.
  • Reviewing and assessing technical, operational, and management concepts, documents, and specifications.
  • Providing expertise on Digital Engineering implementation and policy.

Required Experience:

  • Over 10 years of engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes
  • Bachelors’ Degree plus 8 year's work experience may be substituted for a Masters’ degree
  • Candidate must have a minimum SECRET clearance
  • TOP SECRET clearances must be active upon contract start

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience supporting OSD, Service HQ or DoD Agency or IC staffs
  • Experience working with DoD, Department of the Air Force, U.S. Space Force, Space and Missile Systems Center, and/or the National Reconnaissance Office
  • Familiarity with Defense Space and National Security Space in the areas of strategy, requirements, capabilities, architectures, programs, acquisition, and operations
  • Familiarity with civil, commercial and international space capabilities.
  • Experience designing and developing Aerospace systems as a project engineer or project manager
  • Experience identifying and evaluating emerging technologies from startup companies

Personnel at the senior level in this position shall have a Masters’ Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical Science/Engineering
