Red Hat Linux Systems Administrator (Dedham, MA)
Seeking Red Hat Linux Administrator to join our team. We are working directly with the hiring manager to bring on the brightest and best for this long-term contract (12-24 months) role with a high potential for conversion to permanent. Max hourly rate is $66.00 on W2. (Contracts do not include benefits)Must be a US Citizen AND hold an active Top Secret Clearance to qualify. Talented Red Hat Linux Systems Administrator needed for high level administration of both physical & virtual servers & workstations.
Duties Include:
  • Providing Sr. Level technical problem solving and in-depth consulting for systems operations
  • Will work as part of a team responsible for administration and management of servers, end-user workstations, and potentially clustered systems operating in both unclassified and classified network environments
  • Analysis, design, and implementation of modifications to the systems software in order to improve systems performance, correct errors, or fulfill specific needs
  • Participate in planning new hardware acquisitions, developing operating policy, interacting with vendors, educating customers, and communicating and collaborating with other projects within the organization
  • Work closely with scientists and engineers to help them use workstations and servers to solve their computationally intensive problems
  • Support of individual user workstations and associated software will be required
  • Systems Administrators will provide support for application installation, licenses management, software tracking/distribution and backup/recovery of system configurations and user data files
  • Assist users in applying for accounts and approving user access.
  • You will also be responsible for all ConMon and compliance activities for servers & workstations. You'll perform OS and vendor software patching on servers and monitor physical and virtual servers' performance using monitoring tools. You will be expected apply STIG's, run SCAP and/or Nessus scans.
Because this is a position in defense it requires US Citizenship and a TOP SECRET CLEARANCE (Sorry, absolutely no exceptions)
Ideal Background:
  • Active Top Secret Clearance
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience; or Master's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience
  • Subject matter expert (SME) with the ability to mentor others on administrating the server environment
  • RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7.X RHEL 8.X)
  • VMWare
  • Hyper-V
  • ESXi
  • STIG Checklists
  • STIG Compliance Checker Tool
  • Linux including RHEL/CentOS, specifically secure environments. Virtualized and bare metal
  • Infrastructure aspects of Linux related to authentication, policy, scanning, logging, storage
  • Advanced understanding of server based operating systems
  • Enhanced troubleshooting skills within the server OS as well as both networking and storage technologies
  • Hands-on experience developing, deploying and supporting large-scale enterprise server solutions
  • Design, planning, implementation, monitoring, administering and maintaining computer networks
  • Solid understanding of server based operating systems
  • Enhanced troubleshooting skills within the server OS as well as both networking and storage technologies
  • Working knowledge to create and run scripts to automate repetitive processes
  • Experience with ConMon and compliance activities for servers & workstations

Big Pluses:
  • Broad understanding of the interrelationships within the IT environment with focus on server and services
  • Senior level knowledge of physical and virtual server support
  • Senior level knowledge of access, permissions and security that gives the clients the access to the data they need to perform their daily activities
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience.
