Job Summary
Responsible for operations and maintenance of multi-user computer systems. Establishes and monitors administrator and service accounts; maintains system documentation; tunes system performance, installs system software and hardware; monitors system availability, access and security; and allocates and maintains mass storage space. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation, and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources and develops, tests, and maintains business continuity procedures in conjunction with other support teams. To excel in this role, you will be familiar with system security hardening, and can design and implement system management methods to ensure the sustainment and continued accreditation of classified systems.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Installs, configures, and maintains multi-user workstations and servers.
  • Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Coordinates with other support teams including network, security, application, customer, and as applicable vendor teams regarding server, storage and application implementations.
  • Performs incident resolution, problem root cause investigation, and change management for systems and associated services.
  • Collaborates with other support teams and vendors to develop, deploy, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot IT services.
  • Monitors system availability and performance, performs capacity planning and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Conducts routine hardware, software, account and security audits of multi-user workstations and servers to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
  • Develops storage allocations, defines backup and archival procedures, and maintains and modifies backup and recovery process.
  • Monitors storage use and resources and troubleshoots storage related issues.
  • Evaluates vendors and makes recommendations for hardware/software purchases.
What You Need to be Successful
Required Qualifications:
  • Current TS/SCI clearance
  • Current DoD 8570 compliant certification
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience supporting, configuring, and maintaining operating systems, hardware, applications, and system automation and configuration management technologies
  • Vendor management experience
  • Experience conducting user training
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Current TS/SCI clearance with SSBI and CI polygraph
  • 8 or more years of relevant experience with Associate’s degree in a related discipline, or 10 or more years of relevant experience with High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Computer Science/Engineering/IT or equivalent experience
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer or Microsoft certification

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
