What we are looking for

SCS is looking for a professional for our Sustainable Materials Management practice in Southern California. Initially the qualified individual will be expected to provide support to the sustainable materials management business practice, consisting of zero waste and solid waste management plan preparation, rate modeling, business waste reduction and recycling technical assistance, Used Oil Program assistance, disposal reporting review and monitoring, general research and report writing. As new work develops the selected individual will then be required to manage and maintain contact with clients, and manage the schedule and work product performed consistent within SCS’s quality control standards. This position is based out of the Pasadena office but has hybrid flexibility to work from home on occasion.

How you can make an impact

• Work may include both field activities.
• Attend meetings on technical related issues with the client and/or other SCS supervising engineering staff.
• Perform site visits and provide oversight of field activities.
• Conducting waste characterization studies.
• Office activities, including conducting research, preparing reports and proposals as needed.
• Occasional travel may be required; however most of the initial effort will be in the So. Cal. Area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in a related field required.
• 3 months to 2 years of relevant experience required. Consulting experience specific to the solid waste industry, including recycling, organics, and zero waste preferred.
• Experience dealing with regulatory agencies such as CalRecycle, Local Enforcement Agencies, Depts. Of Public Works, and knowledge of the State’s solid waste laws and permit process is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a requirement.
• MS Office software and other computer software normally used in environmental consulting required.
• Advanced expertise using Excel is desired.
• Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required.

Pay range for this position is $64.5k to $70k/yr depending on experience and location. This does not include bonuses or our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
