Job Description:

• Coordinates surgeries for OCUA physician/s.
• Communicates with physician/s re their schedules.
• Reviews patient history and medications to ensure accuracy in EMR and verify medical and/or specialist clearance needed prior to surgery.
• Calls patient to timeframe surgery.
• Communicates with patients to coordinate surgery date, arrange for pre-op testing, arrange pre/post-op visits as per individual physician protocol.
• Contacts referring physician, provides surgery information and any pre-op orders needed for H&P and/or medical clearance.
• Ensures all pre-op orders are created and faxed to appropriate facility/s and/or sent to patient, including labs, EKG, chest x-ray, urine testing, and/or any other testing required per physician protocol.
• Ensures all pre-op testing is complete and is provided to hospital.
• Meets and/or communicates with patient prior to surgery to go over consents, surgical estimates, insurance authorizations; responsible for collecting monies due prior to surgery.

Required Qualifications:

• Surgery department coordinator and/or scheduling experience is required
• Demonstrated professionalism and strong customer service skills required
• Strong attention to detail & multi-tasking skills required
• Strong computer skills required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Medical terminology required/clinical experience or Medical Assistant preferred
• Knowledge of urology procedures is a plus

Education:

• Minimum high school graduate or equivalent required
• Medical Assisting Certification preferred, but not required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.52 - $25.86 per hour
