Primary Function:


The Supplier Performance Analyst will manage supplier performance, inventory availability, and operational excellence for various Zoro categories, approximately 20 strategic suppliers and $10-15 million in annual COGS. The SPA will monitor on-time shipping performance, order cancellation rates and coach suppliers whose performance is below team goals. The SPA will partner cross-functionally with Order Management, EDI Operations and Category Management teams to ensure an aligned approach to excellent customer fulfillment experiences for our customers.

To be successful in this role, the analyst must have a deep understanding of performance metrics, have a proven ability to identify key data points, and create an impactful strategy based on metrics and data to drive measurable results. When not managed properly, this role can have a significant impact on internal resources, including unnecessary hours of data entry, significant reconciliation issues, immediate impact on network availability, and incorrect lead time expectations leading to a poor customer experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Create a monthly Supplier Portfolio Plan for assigned categories

Review supplier metrics and stratification tiers, identify meaningful patterns and outliers, craft an engagement plan to prioritize the most impactful work, and engage relevant stakeholders internally and externally.

  • Implement inventory feeds with suppliers to ensure Zoro.com has accurate information on product availability.
  • Perform lead time reviews to ensure product ships on time to customers.
  • Review supplier’s operations and make recommendations for improvements to their performance metrics to align with company goals.
  • Partner with top performers to drive mutually beneficial growth.
  • When supplier performance falls below expected levels, develop and monitor corrective action plans with outlined time tables in partnership with suppliers.
  • Review metrics to understand if tactics employed are resulting in meaningful changes and adjust as appropriate.
  • Develop category expertise understanding seasonal cycles (if appropriate), understand performance metrics by category, industry fulfillment benchmarks and how external market conditions may affect suppliers.
  • Understand Zoro’s go to market strategy and competitive landscape, including item pricing, availability, lead time conventions, key brands, and how the capabilities of your key suppliers support our strategy.
  • Display a concrete understanding of performance metrics and how your supplier portfolio affects customer satisfaction and adjacent teams (Customer Service, Order Management, EDI/Ops, Logistics, Category Management, etc.)

  • Support creation and execution of improvement projects to improve supplier performance team. Identify, study, and implement improvements to preserve (or boost!) Zoro’s competitive advantages, drive operational efficiencies, reduce information silos, and improve our customer experience.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred.
  • 1-3 years experience in supply chain or analytics required.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills with proven ability to leverage data and analytics.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to leverage systemic thinking to understand end-to-end supply chain impacts.
  • Driven by curiosity, creativity, and flexibility in identifying and problem solving.
  • Strong communication, presentation, meeting facilitation and relationship management skills, capable of working with people at all levels of the organization both internally and externally.
  • Ability to juggle competing deadlines, multiple priorities, and use analysis to focus on most impactful work.
