JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: SUMMER CAMP TEACHER

Definition: The Assistant Teacher is responsible for the care and education of a group of children as part of the teaching team and for assisting in the implementation of program activities under the direct supervision of the Lead Teacher.

Accountability: Reports to the Director and Assistant Director and works under the supervision of the Lead Teacher.

Minimum Professional Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or GED and demonstrates an understanding of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices.
2. Meets all requirements of licensing and regulatory agencies.
3. Accepts and believes in the philosophy and mission of the school.
4. Displays positive interpersonal skills as well, as critical thinking and problem solving skills.
5. Possesses valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record for the purpose of transporting children.
6. Must be able to meet all the requirements as described in the section titled Essential Functions of

all Employees.

Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain a positive reputation and image within the community while creating and promoting a positive professional relationship with the Lead Teacher, Director, Assistant
Director, Owners, other staff, and families.

2. Promote and maintain maximum enrollment in the classroom.
3. Plan and support activities to meet the needs of individual children; activities which are designed to ensure success, based on a positive foundation for growth and development.
4. Plan, implement. support, and supervise programs for children in accordance with Legacy

Academy’s policies and procedures.
5. Assume responsibility for daily maintenance and cleaning of equipment, classroom, children’s restrooms, and playgrounds.
6. Contribute to a model classroom environment by demonstrating best practices.
7. Participate in regular and ongoing child care training.
8. Provide transportation for children on school vehicles.
9. Support and contribute to the NAEYC accreditation process.
10. Attend monthly staff meetings.
11. Any and all other duties as assigned by the Director or the Assistant Director.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $18.00 per hour
