ON-CAMPUS HEALTH DIRECTOR

SUMMARY

The On Campus Health Director’s role is to foster a safe, secure, and inclusive camp environment. Duties include storing, handling, dispensing and documenting all student medications, and maintaining the first aid station. In addition, the Health Director will ensure proper supervision ratios, assess risk in camp activities, and take necessary safety precautions. The Health Director reports to the Camp Director and may assist with other managerial tasks as needed, including parent communication, in-classroom support, and planning fun camp activities. At locations with an overnight program, the Health Director is required to stay on campus.

CERTIFICATION AND TRAINING

• Attend in-person and online Regional Staff Trainings
• Attend weekend onsite orientation session
• Complete ALL paperwork and training requirements
• May be required to be fingerprinted (based on location)
• May be required to obtain additional health and safety certifications (based on location)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

• Ensure a safe environment is maintained at all times for students and staff
• Ensure proper supervision is occurring at all times, including but not limited to: upholding ratios, conducting face counts, and managing risk and student behavior during activities and street crossing
• Know and uphold iD Tech’s safety policies and procedures
• Execute an organized camper medication check-in and check-out each session
• Ensure missing health forms are completed by guardians at check-in - follow up with urgency if parents/guardians did not attend check-in to complete health forms remotely
• Store and dispense all camper medications with 100% accuracy
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date medications and health log
• Inform Director and Instructors as needed of any medical or physical support a student(s) may need while at camp
• In partnership with Director, communicate and resolve health or medication incidents with guardians
• Respond to and document critical incidents - must have good hearing & eyesight, mobility, and be able to operate emergency exits
• Perform CPR and First Aid
• Apply behavior management techniques to enforce rules and safety regulations
• Escort students to and from dining halls - traveling up to 1 mile
• Assist with location set-up, tear down and product inventory/assessment - ability to lift 50 lbs
• Be continuously available to staff and students while on duty
• Additional duties as needed and assigned by your Director or Regional Manager

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate would have experience in youth supervision, health, nursing, and/or risk management. Health Directors must demonstrate impeccable judgment, strong organizational skills, and be able to communicate effectively via email, cell phone, and hand-written documents. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in Google Workspace (Google Drive/Docs/Sheets). In addition, the candidate would have a background working with kids and teens. The ideal candidate would have a college degree in a related field. Must be certified in Adult & Pediatric CPR/First Aid/AED prior to the first day of work. Some jurisdictions require Health Directors to be at least 21 years old by the start of camp. Based on work location, candidates may be required to provide proof of vaccinations, including for COVID-19.
