East Stroudsburg University is hiring an Upward Bound Bridge Coordinator! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.

As the Bridge Coordinator, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable providing a freshmen summer experience for rising college students. You will be an active member of the Upward Bound team and will work closely with the Program Director to organize and monitor student life activities. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your residential life experience and experience working with adolescents/college students while monitoring student progress in college coursework. To be successful in this role, you must be organized, adaptable and have strong interpersonal skills.

This position is a full-time temporary Bridge Program Coordinator from June 11, 2023 through July 7, 2023. This will include a training week. This position will not lead to permanent university employment. Your work schedule will vary Sunday through Thursday 35 hours weekly. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.

What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)

  • Organize and monitor student life activities in the dormitory setting.
  • Oversee the coordination of social, cultural, and recreational activities for students.
  • Explain and enforce program rules and regulations.
  • Monitor student progress in college coursework.
  • Assist students to develop study skills/time management skills.
  • Assist students in their adjustment to dormitory life and the transition to college.
  • Meet with the Assistant Director and/or Director on a daily basis.
  • Ensure compliance with all ESU and Upward Bound policies and procedures, the safety of students, and promoting a healthy, culturally sensitive, and academically engaging residential culture pursuant to the mission and goals of Upward Bound.

What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)

  • Must have residential life experience. Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education, or related field. Must have experience working with adolescents/college students.
  • Master’s degree preferred. Candidates from underrepresented backgrounds and those with prior TRIO experience preferred.
