LEAP Innovations is launching an innovative new pilot (SEE), which will connect students to real-world career exploration and skill development experiences. We are in search of passionate youth advocates who will thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment to serve as our inaugural cohort of Success Coaches. Success Coaches will guide students through the SEE experience as they learn about themselves, discover their passions and chart a path towards meeting their aspirations.

Who are Success Coaches?:

The ideal Student Success Coach is an individual who is deeply committed to student success, fostering student agency and guiding student career exploration and development. Success Coaches communicate effectively, ask questions that spark student reflection, are comfortable with ambiguity and actively seek feedback.

This role is a fully remote position operating on CST. The Student Success Coach serves as the main point of contact for an assigned group of middle school students to guide and ensure successful participation within the SEE Beta pilot. A Success Coach works a total of approximately 40 hours per program session. Sessions range from 5-13 weeks in length depending on school site, with the possibility of taking on multiple sessions simultaneously if scheduling allows. Success Coaches carry a caseload of between 5-15 students, based on school needs. Initial time commitment runs approximately January 2023 - June 2023 with possibility of renewal for summer and/or the following school year.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Coaching:

  • Use student level data to connect & build relationships in order to personalize coaching support for each learner
  • Conduct virtual coaching touchpoints (~30min) with students during each stage of the journey (5 stages total)
  • Leverage messaging at designated intervals and as needed to communicate with stakeholders, supporting overall student success

Stakeholder Engagement:

LEAP Innovations and Program Providers:

  • Attend two touchpoints, midpoint and end of cycle, discussing student engagement, program completion, cohort health, and additional data points informing overall pilot success.
  • Participate in weekly check-ins with LEAP team to codify learnings & prepare for student interactions

SEE Partner School Sites:

  • Track and review data around program engagement and completion in order to provide cohort-wide insights and identify areas of support
  • Engage in the communication necessary to support and resolve challenges as they arise

Strategy & Learning:

  • Identify successes and challenges of the SEE model based on interactions with students, parents, partner site facilitators and program providers
  • Suggest and implement modifications in real time to mitigate challenges and improve success
  • Codify learnings and best practices to inform the role of future success coaches
  • Provide feedback on strategy for a scalable Success Coach model (e.g. sourcing, caseload size, coaching guides, responsibilities, et. al)
  • Performs other tasks as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and DISPOSITIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years in teaching, coaching, social work, counseling, or other related field
  • Daytime availability during designated program times (varies by school)
  • Additional availability, 1 hour each week, TBD, to meet with LEAP team and other coaches
  • Knowledge of the Chicago and Illinois educational landscape
  • Experience with using the G-Suite to capture, manipulate and report on data
  • Knowledge of and enthusiastic supporter of career development and personalized approaches to learning
  • Eagerness to work in a flexible, ambiguous, fast paced environment
  • Identifies as a self starter who independently manages time well
  • Can communicate effectively and engagingly in a virtual environment

Job Types: Contract, Temporary

Pay: $20.00 per hour
