Position Purpose:

The Student Advisor has the unique opportunity to create a supportive and caring environment for academic advisement and personal success. This role guides individual students from their first semester on campus to graduation by sharing knowledge, experience, insight, and support that is crucial to a positive Charis experience and academic achievement.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist and guide students on the best practices to achieve success in their Charis journey and complete their requirements effectively for graduation.
  • Build and sustain a Charis culture that is reflected in students' school attendance, accountability, and life transformation brought by sitting under the Word of God attentively.
  • Provide availability as a resource for students to contact regarding personal and/or academic challenges, as well as Charis policies, procedures, and more.
  • As-needed check-ins, mentorship, and networking with students one on one, which includes discerning where students are physically, academically, and spiritually in their personal walk with Christ.
  • Assist key departments in the student recruitment efforts for Charis.
  • Assist in the maintenance of student retention by continually providing an excellent student experience and improvement suggestions to key departments.
  • Collaborate inter-departmentally for student events and conferences.
  • Assist students in navigating the college and getting to know the Charis process.
  • Assist the Office of the Bursar in the maintenance of student tuition accounts through Financial Aid assistance recommendations.
  • Track and report key student performance indicators (attendance, tuition, test scores, conduct, etc.) to leadership, and set up meetings with applicable students to discuss their performance, such as current successes and failures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in using Biblical principles to enforce policies.
  • Professionalism and diplomacy in communications with various cultures and diversities.
  • Enthusiastic and encouraging interaction capabilities with a genuine heart of ministry for the students.
  • Exemplified maturity in Christian behavior with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Professional and effective collaboration and communication with inter-departmental staff.
  • Effective time management, organization, and administration, with exceptional listening and problem-solving analysis and implementation.
  • Proven articulation in public speaking.
  • Technical proficiency with computers and software navigation, such as Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SmartSheet, and project management software.

Requirements:

  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Must sign the Statement of Faith.
  • Must demonstrate a mature Christian testimony and have a heart for the students and Andrew Wommack’s vision for Charis Bible College.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education is required.
  • Charis Bible College student or graduate is preferred. 3rd year graduate is preferred.
  • Must pass all required checks.

Experience:

  • Ministry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Compensation is commensurate with experience.
