Stage Manager- Deerfield Family Theater

The Stage Manager is responsible for planning, scheduling, organizing, and running rehearsals for Deerfield Family Theater’s upcoming production of Inherit the Wind.

The Stage Manager will work in partnership with the Director during rehearsals, recording the Director's decisions about blocking and notes for the actors, keeping track of logistical and scheduling details. This enables the Director to concentrate his or her full attention on directing.
We are looking for:
Part Time (Seasonal) Stage Manager – Rehearsals in February are Monday-Wednesday from 6:30-10P, Sundays from 12-4P. Rehearsals in March are Monday-Thursday from 6:30-10P, Sundays from 12-4P. Performances April 7, 8, 14, 15, and 16.

Pay rate: $16.00 per hour.

Essential Functions Include:
  • Set an example of professional behavior in rehearsal and performances that encourages harmonious relationships and teamwork, centered on the purpose of creating a successful production
  • Run rehearsals to make sure everything happens on time.
  • Coordinates the work of the stage crew.
  • Calls cues and actors' entrances during performance.
  • Works with the Set Designer to develop a smooth and efficient plan for the stage crew to follow during set changes.
  • Creates a prompt book to record all blocking, light and sound cues, and notes. Call the show. Must be on site for all performances to respond to emergencies and problems with maturity and intelligence.
  • Oversees the entire show each time it is performed.
  • Maintains the artistic integrity of the show during the run of performances.
  • Facilitate communication between the Director and Designers.
  • Lead the creation of the schedule and distribute to all production staff and cast.
  • Responsible for facility care, including the set-up, maintenance, and clean up of rehearsal spaces. Assumes responsibility for safety and maintenance of building on performance dates.
  • Check in actors to all called rehearsals and performances. Take attendance, make phone calls when necessary.
  • Supervise tech week.
  • Be the first to arrive and the last to leave all rehearsals and performances.

Requirements:
  • Previous stage management experience required
  • Must be organized, have strong leadership skills, and excellent communication skills
  • Willing to work long hours and be flexible with schedule changes, especially as pertains to tech week
