Staff Accountant

This individual is responsible for resolving account discrepancies, analyzing the company’s financial status, and verifying financial transactions. The ideal candidate will exercise discretion in executing essential functions and be able to work independently, following through on assignments with minimal direction.

Responsibilities:

· Compile daily cash reports for all bank accounts.

· Responsible for all cash management – internal bank transfers between cash accounts and lines of credit.

· Prepare daily bank deposit for parent company.

· Handle full book keeping of Canadian subsidiary.

· Calculate and submit monthly and quarterly sales tax payments – must be up to date with the new Colorado sales tax laws.

· Prepare the consolidated financial statements for the parent company and subsidiaries.

· Deal with exchange rates as necessary.

· Update monthly interest amounts on our line of credit.

· Reconcile and issue checks for family property portfolio.

· Enter monthly journal entries into the system and balance the Journal Batch Log.

· Conduct the monthly Balance Sheet Account Analysis.

· Investigate and resolve account discrepancies as needed.

· Work closely with associates from various operational departments.

· Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, or procedures.

· Suggest and help implement continuous improvement projects for accounting.

· Perform other accounting duties and support junior associates as required or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills for this Position:

· Ability to manage time and meet deadlines consistently.

· Self-motivated with a high degree of integrity, professionalism, and reliability.

· Ability to work independently, and also with others and contribute to a team.

· Positive “can do” attitude, highly analytical, and enjoys a challenge.

· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including effective interpersonal and collaboration skills.

· Attention to detail and accuracy.

· Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Requirements:

· 5+ years of relevant accounting experience required.

· Familiarity with accounting software and programs required.

· Strong knowledge of tax laws and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.

· BA/BS in Accounting preferred.

· Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening is required.

· Random drug testing required after employment.
