Essential Functions The Sr. HR Manager is responsible for driving HR strategy within the Newpark Industrial Solutions (NIS) business and acting as a trusted advisor and strategic HR Business Partner to the President, NIS. This role provides a unique opportunity to add value in the fastest growing division within Newpark by developing HR initiatives and programs to support employee engagement, enhance management effectiveness, and provide people solutions to address business needs. From employee relations to talent development, this role will work closely with each HR COE (Center of Excellence) to deliver on the HR vision and offers significant opportunities to make a major impact to the future of Newpark.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for all aspects of the HR Business Partner function including employee relations, grievance resolution, succession planning, high-value and high potential programs, coaching and mentoring programs, career development and union relations.
  • Responsible for on-boarding and off-boarding activities with emphasis on compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Act as coach for supervisors to facilitate performance management processes including annual reviews and individual development plans, shepherd annual compensation planning, resolving general employee relations issues and conflict resolution as it arises, and ensuring compliance with company policies, state laws and regulations.
  • Participates in the creation, revision, and communication of policy changes, maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation, and ensures proper compliance.
  • Leads special projects including the identification and clarification of priorities and foreseeing potential issues, resources needed to achieve project objectives, communicating and coordinating requirements, expediting risks and concerns, and evaluating milestones and change management.
  • Partners with management to develop staffing plans to drive workforce efficiencies and maximum productivity, recommending training and development programs to support the team.
  • Serves as a champion of company Core Values and culture.
  • Responsible for change management in the workforce around corporate and/or divisional strategies.
  • Leads any potential merger and acquisition (M&A) efforts in divisional geography including due diligence analysis, supporting transaction and integration activities (e.g. integration, assimilation, and transitional services for acquisitions or divestitures).
  • Reviews HR metrics for client group and works with management to develop plans for improvement.
  • Assists in the development and management of the HR budget.
  • Supports management by providing subject matter expertise and guidance on day-to-day decisions while working to mitigate risk.
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor’s Degree, 8+ years' experience

Preferred Experience: Previous work with union workforce a plus

Education & Experience Requirements Bachelors Degree or educational equivalent. 12 years HR experience including supervisory experience. Ability to work under constant pressure with demands on your expertise. Self motivated and ability to stay positive. Must effectively prioritize tasks and manage conflict. Lead change management with your client groups. Business understanding of financials. Effectively navigate the political environment while managing up in the organization. Broad understanding of most HR disciplines. HR professional certifications will be required. Position Summary Manage day to day HR administrative "tactical" activities according to established policies and procedures for area of responsibility including, but not limited to staffing, labor relations, compensation, benefits training/organization development and HRIM. Monitor, record and report to senior management opportunities for policy clarification or improvement. Train managers within area of responsibility on HR best practices and company policies and procedures. Cultivate a strategic partnership with all levels of supervision/management within area of responsibility so as to be viewed as business partner. Supervise HR staff within reporting chain and identify areas for development. Liaise closely with Payroll discipline of Finance to ensure timely and accurate payment of workforce. Participate in activities surrounding organized labor including labor disputes and possibly contract negotiations. Manage HR function within area of responsibility which may include one specific discipline within HR such as Employee Relations; or, may include all disciplines of HR present within specific area of responsibility including HR staff. Work closely with HR leadership and local management team(s). Responsible for gathering and reporting HR metrics. Strategic initiatives will be centered around workforce planning, retention and employee engagement. Responsible for employee grievance resolution and counseling; may be exposed to Ethics Line investigations including Lead Investigator role from time to time. Handles special projects, as assigned.
